The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (ABBA) will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Sunday 6th January at Baliff Bridge Community Centre, Victoria Road in Brighouse.

Joining forces

Following the meeting ABBA is joining forces with No 2 Area of the National Association of Brass Band Conductors (NABBC) in promoting an Open Workshop covering the chosen works for the Second, Third and Fourth Sections of the 2013 Area Championships.

Free

This free workshop, starting at 1.30pm, will be open to any interested party with the three pieces introduced by members of ABBA who will outline the various points of interest contained in the music from an adjudicator’s perspective.

Simone Rebello will identify any percussion difficulties, whilst the Skelmanthorpe Band conducted by John Roberts will perform each work.

Opportunity

Ample opportunity will be given to members of the NABBC and anyone present to contribute both verbally and practically during the presentation, which will take around 75 minutes for each work.

With a small break for refreshments the day should finish around 5.30pm.

Encourage

A spokesperson told 4BR: "In promoting this workshop the two Associations are keen to encourage a large attendance. In fact, in view of the success of previous years we are moving to larger and better equipped premises.

The event provides an excellent opportunity for players, conductors, administrators, adjudicators and all who have an interest in competitions to exchange views on the many varied aspects of contest promotion, preparation and adjudication."
