The Hepworth Band has announced the appointment of Danish conductor Stig Maersk as its new resident Musical Director.

Champion experience

Stig, who hails from Copenhagen, was until recently resident conductor with former Danish National champions Concord Brass, and has previously worked with Svogerslev Blæsernes and Aarhus.

He studied trumpet at the Royal Academy in Jutland before working as a professional freelance trumpet player with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Slesvig Military Band and the Royal Guards in Copenhagen.

Stig was invited to work with us earlier this year, preparing the band for its performance at the British OpenHepworth Band

A Hepworth spokesperson told 4BR: "Stig was invited to work with us earlier this year, preparing the band for its performance at the British Open.

We are delighted that he has accepted the position of resident Musical Director and he will make his debut concert appearance us this weekend in Wakesfield."
