St Austell Town Band is set to feature in a pilot episode trialling the viability of a brass band television series.
Sky Channel
The pilot will be shown on SKY Channel 212 on 10th January next year and is to be produced by ex St Austell Youth Band member and production company director Shane Solomon.
It is hoped that with the support of the banding community across the country the show will create an opportunity for any band to showcase themselves on national television.
Partnership
The innovative partnership was developed after St Austell Band Chairman Rob Faro highlighted the virtually non-existent coverage brass bands now get on mainstream television.
Through their determination the duo gained vital funding for the pilot through the kind gesture of local estate agent firm FAC Direct.
Hopeful
The initial pilot will be featured on the Cornwall Channel, but Shane is hopeful that bands from across the country can be featured on the programme in future, helping to raise the profile of the brass band movement across the country.
