There was a good turnout of bands at the Venue Cymru in Llandudno on the weekend for the 2012 North Wales Championship, where adjudicator Kevin Wadsworth enjoyed performances from bands in six sections.
Northop victory
In the Open Section victory went to Northop conducted by Thomas Wyss who beat off the challenge of local rivals Deiniolen under Gavin Saynor's baton to claim the honours for a third successive year thanks to their well crafted performance of Peter Graham’s ‘Montage’.
The band also entertained the audience with a mini concert before the announcement of the results.
Royal win
Royal Buckley’s fine rendition of ‘Renaissance’ proved good enough to win the Second Section, whilst Deeside took the Fourth Section honours thanks to their well worked performance of ‘Devon Fantasy’. It was also the band's first contest performance for some years.
Deeside Training claimed the Fifth Section title, with Youth Section wins for Beaumaris Youth and Deiniolen Youth.
