Looking forward

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Current MD Michael Thorne has unfortunately relinquished his role due to increased work commitments, but is happy to be now engaged as our Principal Guest Conductor and is looking forward to help out in concerts and contests."

Enjoyed

Meanwhile, Nigel added: "I've enjoyed working with the band recently, so I was delighted to have been able to accept the role of Musical Director.

I have set several new aims for the band in the next few years and I'm looking forward to working with them, building on the fantastic work that Mike has already done."

Nigel is the ideal replacement and we had no hesitation in offering him the role as we look to claim the Welsh League title in Blaenavon in NovemberChairman, Graham Howe.

Ideal

Chairman Graham Howe added: "We were all saddened that Mike's workload has meant we had to make some changes. We owe him a huge debt of thanks and are delighted that he will continue as Principal Guest Conductor.

Nigel is the ideal replacement and we had no hesitation in offering him the role as we look to claim the Welsh League title in Blaenavon in November."
