British Open champion Foden’s has made something of a last minute player scoop with the news that their former principal Eb tuba player Phil Green will be making a return to the band for Sandbach band’s challenge for National title at the Albert Hall.

Phil was a member of the band for 12 years before hanging up his mouthpiece due to work commitments in 2006, but has been drafted back into the ranks to cover for a bout of illness.

Looking forward

Phil told 4BR he was looking forward to playing with the band once more: "I was really pleased when Foden’s asked me to play at the Nationals. It’s great to return and I’ve been amazed at the standard of the playing under Allan Withington."

He added: "Contest preparations have been going very well and I’m looking forward to hopefully becoming a double champion before I can retire again!"
