The Skelmanthorpe Band will be hosting its 8th Annual Slow Melody & Ensemble Competition next month.
Popular
The popular contest takes on Saturday 10th November at Pilling Lane Methodist Church and in the past has attracted entrants from as far afield as London and Newcastle to compete in the eight sections throughout the day.
Competition Organiser, Graham Bates, told 4BR: "We are looking forward to meeting friends old and new, and are delighted to have secured the services of Richard Marshall, Principal Cornet of Black Dyke to be our adjudicator."
Sections
The usual sections will take place: 11 & under; 14 & under; 16 & under; Junior Ensemble (18 & under); Open; Veterans (40 & over); Open Ensemble; Random, with trophies and keep-sakes for each section. The ensemble format is more flexible, allowing for groups between 2 and 8 members.
Graham added: "We have always been fortunate to secure the services of high profile adjudicators for the competition.
Combine this with the fun of the Random Section, a warm welcome, and the legendary hot and cold refreshments and we look forward to another successful day”.
