Report & Results: 2012 LBBA Solo, Duet & Quartet Contest

A remarkable turn out of players both young and old provided the musical entertainment in Leicestershire.

Leicester Association

The halls of Groby Community College in Leicestershire were filled with players young, and not so young, last Sunday in support of the Leicestershire Brass Band Association’s annual member Solo, Duet and Quartet competition.

15 sections

Adjudicators Sharon Stansfield, Brian Clark and Steve March enjoyed performances in an incredible 15 different sections whilst there were awards and trophies and medals to winning performers from association member bands in the area.

Collecting a haul of silverware this year was promising young EEb Bass player Rebecca Simms of the Hathern Band, who took the overall Junior Champion award and with it the ‘Harry Bray Memorial Trophy’, in dedication and memory of a former Association stalwart who founded the association’s solo contests and who sadly passed away last year.

Congratulations

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The association would like to congratulate Rebecca and all of the winners, and particularly those taking part in their first contest!"
