Fairey flugel player Mike Eccles and Simon Cowan, principal trombone with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra joined Loxley Silver Band recently for their opening night of the inaugural Bradfield Festival ‘Bradfest’.

Loxley was asked to perform a concert at the Bradfield Village Hall at the head of the picturesque Loxley Valley, and responded by thrilling the audience with music from blockbuster movies such as, ‘James Bond’, ‘The Mission’, ‘Benedictus’, ‘Cavatina’, ‘Born Free’, ‘Zulu’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘Superman’ and many more.
Loxley’s performance also included a selection of tunes from ‘Last Night at the Proms’, and the audience were able to sing along to ‘Land of Hope and Glory, ‘Jerusalem’ and ‘Rule, Britannia!’
Bolsover success
Now in their 125th year they have recently appointed Musical Director, Lee Dunkley, and just last weekend enjoyed their first taste of contesting success under his baton at the Bolsover Festival of Brass.
