The Pemberton Old Wigan DW organisation is to say a fond farewell to one of its finest players with the news that Carina Halliwell has decided to take a break from banding after 20 years of sterling service.
Talented
Carina joined Pemberton organisation almost 20 years as a talented youngster hopeful of a chance to play at the band, following in her father's footsteps, and after working up through the Youth and B Bands, became a highly respected cornet and flugel player as well as a Band Secretary.
Difficult to fill
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Carina's commitment to the band has been exemplary. Her contributions on both the concert and contests stage have been infallible and widely regarded by fellow players and rival bands, and she will leave a gap which will be difficult to fill.
We are sad to see her leave, but are eternally grateful to her for the service she has provided to the band in her two decades with the organisation."
