The organisers of the Brass in Concert Festival, to be held at The Sage Gateshead on the weekend of 17th & 18th November have revealed details of the popular Saturday Workshop & Taster Sessions.
Lucky
Led by Dr. Nicholas Childs the lucky participants will get to conclude their workshop experience with a public performance on the stage of Hall One at the iconic venue.
That free event will form the first half of a concert shared with Elland Youth Band conducted by Samantha Harrison, the current Action Medical Research Youth Entertainment Champions, who will also be performing before the results of Sunday’s Brass in Concert Championship.
Star tutors
The Workshop tutors will include Richard Marshall, Rob Westacott, Sheona White, Katrina Marzella, Brett Baker, Joe Cook, Ashley Clegg and Laura Jackson and application forms can be obtained from Alan Hope on ahope.brass@tiscacali.co.uk or 07765 656729.
Registration for the workshops commences at 8.45am on 17th November. The cost is £5.00 including lunch and demand is expected to be high so early registration is recommended.

Taster sessions
Meanwhile, the popular Taster Sessions will also be taking place on the concourse foyer of the Sage between 11.00am and 2.00pm, encouraging the general public to have a go on a brass instrument.
They will be led by John Woods with support from Dave Coles, Stuart Ralph and Gary Hutchinson.
Partnership
Brass in Concert has recently announced a partnership with Gateshead Schools Music Services Hub and Music Partnership North to help promote and encourage children and young people from across the North East and beyond to support the workshops and taster sessions.
