Death of Mossley stalwart

The death has been announced of William 'Syd' McDermott of Mossley Band.

The Mossley Band has announced the death of William ‘Syd’ McDermott.

He passed away after a long illness on Friday 14th September.

Respected

A well known and respected in the North West area, Syd started his long standing band association at Ashtonian Brass, followed by enjoyable periods at Ashton, Stalybridge Brass and more recently Mossley Bands.

Never say never

Never having played a note, Syd was well known for his varied approaches to fundraising for the bands he was with, gaining many friends along the way with his ‘never say never’ approach.

His family would like to thank friends and band members for their friendship and support at this particularly sad time.

Funeral details

The funeral will take place on Wednesday 3rd October at 10.30am, at St Peters RC Church, Green Lane Hazel Grove followed by a service at Stockport Crematorium at 11.15am.
