Death of Dai Trombone

One of the great stalwarts of Welsh banding has passed away, with news of the death of the popular David Jones of Cwmaman Band.

The Cwmaman Institute Silver Band has announce the sad passing of their President, David Jones.

Universally known in the Welsh banding world as 'Dai Trombone' the immensely popular and highly respected former player passed away in the early hours Wednesday 5th September, after many years of battling illness.

Sad time

Former Band Chairman Gary Davies told 4BR: "This is an extremely sad time for the band, Welsh banding and especially Dai’s family. Dai was Cwmaman Band, an inspiration to all who knew him."

Gary added that the family would like to thank all family, friends and band members past and present for their support through these difficult times.

Funeral details

The funeral will take place this Friday at 1.15pm at Foundry View, Godreaman, Aberdare, followed by a 2.00pm service at the Aberdare cemetery, at which all members past and present are invited to play along with the hymns.

Tintwistle Band

January 1 • We have a vacancy for an Eb bass player to complete our bass section.. We are looking forward to competing in the 2nd section Midlands area contest in March 2026.. We rehearse Monday&Thursday 8-10pm in our own bandroom under the baton of our MD Jim Henson.
