Brian Keachie, a music development officer at Inverclyde Education Authority, and MD of the Barrhad Burgh Band in Scotland, is setting off next month on a 12 day trek of the Great Wall of China to help raise funds for children in palliative care.
Dreams Come True
Brian told 4BR: "It’s in aid of ‘Dreams Come True Inverclyde’, which helps children with incurable illnesses with their palliative care needs. We have already climbed Ben Nevis, so we thought we had better try something a little longer this time! It’s a wonderful cause, so the sore feet will be well worth it!"
Help
Brian hopes to raise over £3,000 and sets off on October 13th. He can be supported through Www.virginmoneygiving.com/BrianKeachie
Warm up
Meanwhile, as a warm up he is looking for the support of brass band musicians to play as part of a Dream Mile walk on Sunday 9th September at 12 noon.
The ‘Brassed Off !’ Band is looking for volunteers to join in and swell their ranks as they play while walking the mile for the charity.
Brian added: “The organisers are keen to have as many brass band musicians as possible and those interested should contact me on 07773 407 094.

Register for the weekend
Players can register in advance at any Inverclyde Leisure facility by making a minimum donation of £5 for which they will receive a Dreams Come True wristband to wear on the day and a certificate at the end of the mile.
We would like as many brass musicians as we can playing as part of the walk and joining in the fun."
