Rogerstone export young player talent

The Rogerstone Band will be saying goodbye to two of their three most talented young musical performers this September.

The Rogerstone Band from South Wales will be saying a heartfelt goodbye to a brace of players as they head to music colleges this September.

Talented

In fact, three talented youngsters will head for university life, with cornet player Rhianwen Head off to Huddersfield University to study music; tuba, Tom Howells, studying music performance at the Royal Northern College of Music, and euphonium, Thomas Dunne attending the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff – although thankfully, that means he is able to stay performing with the band.

I’m extremely proud to have taught them and I know that they will be a great addition to their collegesMD, James Jones

Sad

Although sad to see two of their three talented players leave Wales, the band’s young MD James Jones was still delighted that they will get to enjoy the start of what hopefully will be successful musical careers:

"I’ve had the pleasure of conducting and tutoring all three musicians, and I’m delighted they are going on to study music. I’m extremely proud to have taught them and I know that they will be a great addition to their colleges."

Meanwhile, the band is already looking towards the future and has just expanded its youth system under the new leadership of Rachel Messe.
