Players from the Texas Star Brass Band recently found themselves at the centre of attention before the start of one of the biggest baseball games in America.
USA! USA!
An ensemble from the band was asked to perform music before the first pitch, including the National Anthem. With national pride being stoked by success at the Olympic Games, and in 106 degree heat, their playing was very nearly drowned by chants of ‘USA! USA!’ from the crowd of over 40,000 spectators.
As one of the Texas players later told 4BR: "The performance and the game went very well. All of the players really enjoyed themselves despite the heat! The crowd reaction was phenomenal.
The chants of ‘USA!’ started toward the end of the performance and we received a standing ovation as we walked back to the outfield entrance."
Inspired
The band’s performance seems to have inspired the protagonists with the Texas Rangers finally coming out on top 15-9 against their fierce rivals, the LA Angels, in one of the most exciting games of the current baseball season.

Return match
The music has also given the Rangers a boost too, with the team going on to win seven of their last ten games since the band performed – something which has led to the team already asking for the band to return as soon as possible to play for them again!
