The Worshipful Company of Musicians has announced that Stan Kitchen and Mark Bousie are to be the recipients of the 2012 Iles and Mortimer Medals. The awards will be made at the conclusion of the British Open Championships at Symphony Hall on September 1st.

Stan Kitchen has for many years been one of the great enthusiasts for the professional promotion of brass band music through his publishing company Studio Music and the releases its makes through Polyphonic Recordings.
His commitment and love of the banding movement sees him continue to work tirelessly for the benefit of bands, even as he approaches his 81st birthday in December this year.

He is set to help spearhead Foden’s innovative musical approach to youth banding through the Love Music Trust and the RNCM in Manchester.
