Smithills School Senior Band under the direction of MD Chris Wormald, have returned home from their two week American tour to North and South Carolina, during which they gave nine evening concerts in ten action packed days.
Packed audiences
The youngsters performed to packed audiences and made in the process made hundreds of new friends and fans in cities ranging from Shelby and Asheboro to Rutherfordton, Kernersville and Fletcher.
No repeats
A spokesperson told 4BR: "The band took over 70 different concert pieces and did not repeat a single item until our fifth concert — something Smithills has never done before."
The band featured soloists, principal cornet Elizabeth Tonge and solo euphonium Jacob Smith and solo trombonist Ross Tremayne.

Superbowl highlight
Amongst many highlights was the stay in Boone, where MD Chris Wormald stayed at the spectacular mountain home of former American Football Superbowl winner Dave Rowe of the Oakland Raiders, who has become a huge fan of Smithills bands.
