The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) has announced a major 12 month sponsorship agreement with Band Supplies Ltd, the leading music retailers who have supported banding in Scotland for over 35 years.
Step forward
John Hamilton, Commercial Development Manager for SBBA told 4BR: "This agreement is another step forward in SBBA's plan to secure a network of corporate sponsors who will support its innovative work in developing the brass band movement in Scotland."
He added: "Band Supplies Ltd has been a valued supporter of SBBA for many years, and I feel that this agreement is confirmation that they fully endorse our ongoing work. It is a major long term contribution and we are very grateful to Ronnie Tennant for his continued support and generosity."
50 year mark
Ronnie Tennant, Managing Director of Band Supplies Ltd responded: "I’m celebrating 50 years in brass banding this year and have been a supporter of SBBA throughout that half century.
I realised that this would be an ideal opportunity to give something extra back to the movement that is very dear to me. The recent strides that SBBA have taken in re-invigorating the brass band movement from the grass roots up is absolutely in line with my hopes for the future of banding.
I feel strongly that I want to assist as much as I possibly can and with this agreement I can do that and also celebrate my 50 years in a meaningful way."

Long standing
John Hamilton responded: "This sponsorship agreement builds upon the long-standing relationship between Band Supplies and SBBA and makes a further positive contribution towards the youth and community areas of development for brass bands in Scotland, which has seen an astounding increase of 61 youth bands in the last 6 years."
Productive
A delighted George Burt, President of SBBA added: "This generous sponsorship demonstrates the highly productive relationships we have fostered between all sectors involved in brass music, especially the growing number of young people who participate in this lifelong creative activity."
