National Youth places still up for grabs

There are still places up for grabs for the National Youth and National Children's Bands of Great Britain.

National Youth Brass Band
 

There are places still available to join the 2013 National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and National Children’s Band of Great Britain.

Auditions

Talented brass and percussion players from across the UK can audition at the remaining audition days due to be held later this year in St Dennis (Cornwall), Ratby (Leicester), Salford and Sunderland.

The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBBGB) is open to musicians aged 12 to 18 and the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain (NCBBGB) is open to musicians aged eight to 14.

The NCBBGB is due to perform in Derby later this month and the NYBBGB is next due to perform at a number of concerts later this year, including the prestigious BBC Proms.

Free entry

Each youngster who auditions will be given free entry into a masterclass led by one of the organisation’s internationally renowned tutors. Tutors include Black Dyke solo trombone Brett Baker and euphonium virtuoso, David Childs.

Administrator Philip Biggs, told 4BR: "There are still places available, so if you are interested or know of someone who could be interested, we are looking at talented children and teenagers from across the UK to audition.

Both bands are a great breeding ground for talented youngsters, with many former members going on to become leading performers in the professional music and brass band world."

Courses

The 80-strong NYBBGB holds two one-week intensive residential courses each year and the 60-strong NCBBGB holds an annual one-week intensive course each Summer.

• Ratby Bandroom, Leicester — Sunday 28th October
• University of Salford — Saturday 3rd November
• University of Sunderland — Saturday 10th November

Chinnor Silver

June 7 • Our Community Band is meeting on Monday {9th} and would welcome anyone who fancies an extra friendly rehearsal,with coffee and cake involved.. We rehearse in our bandroom at 11am its free and it open to all abilities.. No commitment required.


Epping Forest Band

June 6 • Epping Forest band have a vacancy for solo horn. We are a friendly 3rd section band with a variety of gigs through out the year. We have our own band hut with close to links with London Underground central line and the M11 motorway.


Chelmsford Silver Bnad

June 6 • Front row cornet, solo horn & trombone players. We are a friendly, active non competition band established 75 years performing regularly in Chelmsford & Essex. Rehearsals averaging 26 players on Wednesday evenings at Broomfield Methodist Church Chelmsford
