The organisers of the Pershore Midsummer Brass has announced that 8 bands that are taking part in this year’s Festival on July 21st will perform ‘Going the Distance’ as part of the Brass the Baton Olympiad celebrations.
Green Baton
Audiences will be able to hear the performances from bands from all levels spread over 12 hours, with the opening ‘Green Baton’ honours going to Shipston Town, at 10.00am at Chapman Court.
Lunch time sees the baton pass to Malvern Chase Brass for the first of the day’s performance of the piece at the Baptist Church, before some nifty foot work by the organisers will see it transferred to the Abbey, where Malvern District Band will present their version.
Abbey performances
Tea time sees the baton back at the Baptist Church for Hook Norton’s performance and a little later, newcomers Bedworth Brass will add to the performances at the Abbey.
Quick as a flash it will then sprint to the rear of the Angel Inn for two consecutive performances by City of Coventry and Phoenix West Midlands, before the honour of the last performance of the day goes to Bilton Silver (Rugby) in the Baptist Church.

On to Durham
Pershore Midsummer Brass is the penultimate event of the ‘Green Baton relay’, so a timely transfer of the baton to the final event at Durham will see BFBB Chairman Robert Morgan MBE agreed to deliver the PMB Green Baton personally to event organisers there.
