Grimethorpe set for historic announcement

Something historic is on the cards at Grimethorpe — with rumours rife with speculation.

Sources at Grimethorpe Colliery Band have revealed that the band is shortly to make a major announcement that they believe will secure the band a worldwide profile.

Abbey Road

4BR spoke to Band Manager Nigel Dixon at a recent recording at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London, and although he insisted Grimethorpe is keeping a tight lid on any rumours, he did tell 4BR that the announcement could well be one of the most important in their long history.

The banding rumour mill has been in overdrive recently, although no one seems quite certain what the band's next move may well be.

All will be revealed to our thousands of fans across the banding world as soon as we can. They will not be disappointedBand Manager, Nigel Dixon

Final stages

Nigel told 4BR: "We are now in the final stages of discussions and preparation for what we believe will be truly historic news for the band. All I can say at present is that we have been working towards ensuring that the Grimethorpe Colliery Band name is known worldwide."

"All will be revealed to our thousands of fans across the banding world as soon as we can,” he added cryptically. "They will not be disappointed."
