Vale enjoy French visit

The Vale of Glamorgan Band has just returned from a great trip to France.

A very tired Vale of Glamorgan Band recently arrived back in Barry in the early hours of Monday morning after a very successful weekend representing the Vale at ‘Estivoiles’, the festival of music and the sea held at Fecamp in Normandy.

Concerts

The weekend saw the band led by Musical Director Dave Short giving concerts on the quayside as well as marching through their twin town.

Dave told 4BR: "Although it rained on the Sunday, the band was determined to fulfil its obligations and play its final concert, so an open fronted tent was used as the venue and the concert was able to go ahead."

Welcome

The band was warmly welcomed both to the festival and to the town, and so much appreciated that they have been asked to return next year.

The band is currently busy rehearsing its programme for this year’s National Eisteddfod, which will be held locally and which will see the band’s long awaited return to competition.
