The sound of brass was everywhere in Derbyshire on day 42 of the Olympic Flameā€™s progress towards London, with Blidworth Welfare Band playing their part in a hectic but rewarding day of performances.

Vast crowds

The band appeared at two venues throughout the route performing at Bolsover and Calow near Chesterfield to vast crowds who had gathered to see the Torch and the cavalcade of vehicles accompanying it.

The band had a fantastic day and our members were proud and honoured to be involvedSecretary, Karen Cretney

Procession

The band appeared on East Midlands Today on the BBC Live Feed and went on to head a procession of over 2,000 adults and school children from the historic Bolsover Castle through the town of Bolsover.

Secretary Karen Cretney told 4BR: "The band had a fantastic day and our members were proud and honoured to be involved."
