New Concerto to be premiered at NABfest

Cornet star Paula Russell is to premiere a new Cornet Concerto by composer Barry McKimm at the forthcoming NABfest event.

4BR has been informed that the 2012 National Australia Brass Festival – NABfest, continues to develop their new music policy with the premiere of another major work.

New concerto

Composer in Residence, Barry McKimm has been commissioned by the 5th NABfest to produce a new Cornet Concerto, which will be performed by Paula Russell.

Premiere

The work will be premiered at the 5th NABfest composer’s workshop to be held on Wednesday, July 4th at Wesley College, St Kilda Road, Melbourne.

National Australia Brass has regularly featured international soloists including Yamaha artists Jens Linderman and Sheona White with Paula Russell being featured this year.

The 2012 National Australia Brass Festival is sponsored by Yamaha Australia and NABfest culminates with a Gala concert to be held in the BMW Edge, Federation Square, Melbourne on Saturday evening, July 7th, 7.30pm.
