Stannington Training Band proved they could go the distance recently when they took part in the ‘Brass the Baton’ relay on the weekend.

The band performed the PLC work ‘Going the Distance’ in front of a enthusiastic audience, that included Angela Smith, MP, the Cross Party Chairperson for Brass Bands, who told the audience how important it was to support banding as part of South Yorkshire’s culture.

Nurture talent

The Training Band, which aims to nurture musical talent, performed the piece as part of their concert programme at the local Knowle Top Methodist Church, Stannington. They were joined by other musicians who also performed at the concert to showcase young talent.
