Report & Results: 2012 Gwent Solo & Quartet

120 players battle it out for glory in a great day of contesting in South Wales.

There was a great turn out of players in South Wales last weekend for the popular Gwent Music Services Solo & Quartet Contest.

Judges, Tom Hutchinson and Chris Thomas were immensely impressed by the standard on show at the YMCA Centre, Newport.

Successful

The successful day was organised by Tutor Organiser Christopher Turner, with 120 brass players taking part, representing bands and schools within Greater Gwent plus entries from Gloucestershire and Sovereign Brass.

Next year's date

Following the support and success of this event, the date of next year’s Contest will be Saturday 1st June 2013.

Harlow Brass Band

February 27 • We are a friendly, non-contesting band who have the following vacancies:. Trombones, 2nd Horn, Back Row Cornets, Percussion. . We rehearse every Thursday in Harlow, 8-10pm and play at local events throughout the year.


Newmarket Town Band

February 27 • Newmarket Town Band is inviting applications for the post of 'Musical Director'. We are a non-contesting band who play to a high standard with regular bookings throughout the year. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays 7:30 - 9:30pm


Banks Brass Band
