Redbridge Brass is putting the final touches to its preparations to celebrate its 40th anniversary next month.
Major contests
Formed as a youth band in 1972 by the inspirational John Ridgeon, they have since gone on to become a highly respected Championship Section competitor at all major contests – claiming no less than nine London & Southern Counties Area wins and a Butlins Mineworkers Championship title in since 2002.
Concert celebration
A special concert at Regent Hall on 7th July will enable the current band under the direction of Jeremy Wise to meet up with old friends, supporters and players who have played their part in making Redbridge the most successful London area band of the last two decades or more.
Jeremy told 4BR: "It’s going to be a great occasion for the band and we hope as many former players, supporters and friends help us in our celebrations.
We have Nick Betts, co-principal trumpet of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and a former principal cornet of the band as our guest soloist and we are especially pleased that a host of former conductors from John Ridgeon to John Clark will be in attendance too."
It’s going to be an evening of nostalgia as well as great entertainment – and we are hopeful that former players dust off their old instruments and join us on stage for some of the itemsMD, Jeremy Wise
Nostalgia and entertainment
He added: "It’s going to be an evening of nostalgia as well as great entertainment – and we are hopeful that former players dust off their old instruments and join us on stage for some of the items – there are plenty of greatest Redbridge hits that we are going to play!"
