The test pieces for the 2012 Belgian National Championships that will take place at the Lemmensinstitute in Leuven on the weekend of the 24th/25th November have been announced.
Energy
The Championship Section bands will have to get to grips with one of the classic contemporary works of brass banding repertoire – Robert Simpson’s, ‘Energy’.
Written for the short lived World Championships in 1971, it remains a severe test of a conductor’s skill set to control the pace of musical momentum.

Popular
Michael Ball’s popular 1987 European Championship set work, ‘Frontier!’ will provide a pioneering test of character for the bands in the First Section, whilst Philip Sparke’s three movement ‘Celtic Suite’ provides the Second Section bands with a little taste of Wales.
The elegant musicality of Joseph Horovitz’s ‘Sinfonietta’ provides a lovely musical test for the bands in the Third Section.

The trio of adjudicators for the contest have been announced as Dr Peter Meechan, Simon Dobson and Stan Lippeatt.
