The programmes to be featured by Tredegar and Carlton Main Frickley Colliery at the All England Masters International Gala Concert on Sunday evening have been announced.
Tredegar
The 2011 Masters champion under the baton of Ian Porthouse will deliver the first half at the Lighthouse Theatre, starting on the stroke of 7.30pm.
They will open with, ‘Olympic Fanfare and Theme’, before moving through Suppe’s ‘Poet and Peasant’ overture, ‘People’, featuring principal cornet Dewi Griffiths and ‘Gaelic Blessing’ by John Rutter.
Saint Saens ‘Bacchanale’ and ‘The Lost Chord’, will be followed by ‘Greek Dance’ featuring euphonium Buzz Newton, before they close with Simon Dobson’s ‘Little Hymn’ and Matt Hall’s Brass in Concert prize winning ‘Nightingale Dances’.
Carlton Main
Meanwhile, Carlton Main, under the baton of Michael Fowles will include ‘Libertango’ the march ‘Jubilee’ and the overture ‘The Barber of Seville’.
The band’s trio of principal players will be featured too, with Kirsty Abbotts playing ‘Meditation’ form ‘Thais’, whilst solo trombone Rebecca Lundberg will perform ‘Stardust’ and euphonium Toni Howden delivering ‘La Belle Americaine’.
The Yorkshire band will round off the evening with ‘Shepherd’s Hey’, ‘The Water of the Tyne’, ‘Whatever will be will be’ and ‘Call of the Cossacks’.
