One of the biggest prizes in the brass band contesting calendar is up for grabs once again with the news that the organisers are looking to fill the 11 places on offer to compete in the Doctor Martin Charitable Trust Wainstones Cup contest.
Top prize
The bands will battle it out for the impressive £4,000 top prize at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Sunday 16th September, with contenders hoping to get their hands on a share of the £8,000 prize money pot.
The contest is open to Championship and First Section bands who will have to perform a march, featured solo and Championship grade own choice test piece in their programmes.
Generous
Steve Goodwin told 4BR: "There has been an ever increasing interest in the contest over the last couple of years, especially with such a generous prize fund on offer. No band goes away empty handed, with each competitor guaranteed at least £300, and with that top prize of £4,000."
After last year’s successful event was won by Exchange Communications Whitburn and Steve revealed that he has already been contacted by bands wishing to take part from all over the country.
