The current British Open champion Cory has announced the signing of Matthew White as their new principal euphonium.
Titles
The BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Soloist of the Year in 2010 has claimed many individual performance titles in his short career. He is a former Black Dyke Young Artist of the Year, and winner of the ‘Best Soloist’ Award at the Bras sin Concert Championships.
He is also a former principal euphonium of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, Wingates, Leyland and most latterly Fairey, who he leaves with immediate effect.
Thrilled
Matthew told 4BR: "I’m absolutely thrilled to be the new solo euphonium player at Cory. It’s a great honour to be following on from David Childs, and I will do my level best to continue the great work he has achieved with the band."
MD Bob Childs is delighted with the new appointment: "Matthew is a great talent and has benefited from working with the likes of Steven Mead and David Thornton for the past 10 years. He is musically intelligent and very experienced for someone so young. I’m so pleased that he has agreed to join Cory."
I sincerely hope that signing such a virtuoso euphonium player as Matthew sends a positive message to everyone in the banding world that Cory means business, and is building for continued and future successAustin Davies
