After successfully holding their 'Battle of Bands' contest for the past five years, Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band has announced that it will now be holding an inaugural Solo, Duet & Quartet contest event too.
The contest will take place on the 16th June — a day before the popular 'Battle of Bands' event at the Speedwell Rooms in Staveley, near Chesterfield. David Hirst will be the adjudicator.
Meanwhile, Colin Hardy will be the music judge at the 'Battle of the Bands contest' on Sunday 17th June

The new contest will also take place at the venue, where there will be 10 separate sections for players to compete in.
A: Junior Slow Melody (10 years & under)
B: Junior Slow Melody (11, 12, 13 & 14 Years)
C: Junior Slow Melody (15, 16, 17 & 18 Years)
D: Junior Air Varie (18 years and under)
E: Open Slow Melody
F: Open Air Varie
G: Open Duets
H: Junior Quartet Hymn Tune (3 verses) (14 Years & under)
I: Junior Quartet (18 Years & under)
J: Open Quartet
There are medals for all podium prize winners with the winner receiving cheques for £25 donated by businesses from around Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire
