Provisional line up confirmed for IBBC Contest

The first batch of invited bands ready to battle for the 8,000 euro first prize at the International Brass Band Contest in Belgium have been revealed.

The organisers of the 2012 International Brass Band Contest, which is due to be held at the Lemmensinstituut of Leuven in Belgium in November, have released detail of the first batch of bands who have been invited to take part in the event.

Manger head

So far the line up of invited bands attracted by the generous prize fund is headed by current European champion, Manger Musikklag from Norway and Rotterdam bound Noord-Limburgse, whilst former European champion Brass Band Willebroek and Belgian national champion Brass Band Buizingen are also on the initial list of invitees.

Intentions

Seindorf Beaumaris has indicated its competitive intentions from Wales, whilst the provisional line up of bands looking to claim the first prize of 8,000 Euros is completed by Brass Band Heist, Oslo Brass, Jersey Premier and Young Brass Band Willebroek.

Pleased

IBBC President, Michael Dils told 4BR: "We have been very pleased with the response so far, and we hope to be able to confirm more international competitors in the near future.

The very best bands are contacting us to enquire about taking part and to see how they can fit this ground breaking contest into their programmes."

The contest will take place on 10th & 11th November.
