Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band is still celebrating after their recent qualification to the National Finals in Cheltenham.

The band came runner up in the Fourth Section at the Midlands Area contest in Bedworth to secure their place at the September event for the second year running.

Huge achievement

A spokesperson told 4BR: "To come runners up for the second year running is a huge achievement by everyone involved with the band. We would also like to thank our sponsor Conceptunet Ltd for their continued support."

Player moves

The band has also announced that Colin Hamilton Martin has stepped down from the principal cornet chair after four years, due to family and work commitments.

George Newbould has taken his place from the repiano seat, whilst the band also welcomes Rob Bradshaw to the front row cornet line and Ernest Moncell on trombone.
