Tovey set for Scottish Youth Course

Bramwell Tovey will be heading to the National Youth Band of Scotland this year.

The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) has announced that members of the three bands of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS) can look forward to an exciting summer course at the University of St Andrews from 30th July — 4th August.

Invitation

In addition to receiving an invitation to perform a concert at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival and the chance to participate in collaboration with tutors from the National Youth Choirs of Scotland, members will also have brilliant opportunity of working under Bramwell Tovey, who will be attending as a guest conductor during the course, together with Musical Director, Richard Evans.

Huge honour

Course Director, Neil Cross told 4BR: "We are always looking for new ways to develop and enhance the summer courses. The collaboration with visiting tutors will introduce a different musical learning experience whilst to perform at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival is a huge honour."

He added: "When these highlights are then combined with the attendance of Bramwell Tovey, I am sure that our young musicians will be looking forward to six days of exciting musical opportunities."

Seize the chance

SBBA fully encourages brass and percussion musicians aged between 11 and 21 of all levels from Grade 3 upwards to seize the opportunities the NYBBS courses can offer them in the development of their personal musicianship, learning amongst likeminded enthusiasts from world-renowned tutors and conductors.

Chinnor Silver

June 7 • Our Community Band is meeting on Monday {9th} and would welcome anyone who fancies an extra friendly rehearsal,with coffee and cake involved.. We rehearse in our bandroom at 11am its free and it open to all abilities.. No commitment required.

June 6 • Epping Forest band have a vacancy for solo horn. We are a friendly 3rd section band with a variety of gigs through out the year. We have our own band hut with close to links with London Underground central line and the M11 motorway.


Chelmsford Silver Bnad

June 6 • Front row cornet, solo horn & trombone players. We are a friendly, active non competition band established 75 years performing regularly in Chelmsford & Essex. Rehearsals averaging 26 players on Wednesday evenings at Broomfield Methodist Church Chelmsford
