The National Association of Brass Band Conductors has informed 4BR that they are looking forward to welcoming delegates to their 2012 Conductors Convention in Woking, Surrey.
The event will take place over the weekend of the 28th and 29th April, in the conference centre at The Holiday Inn, Woking, Surrey.
Packed weekend
The musical highlight of a packed weekend will be the Saturday evening concert at St. John’s Church, West Byfleet, Surrey by the All England Masters International Champions, Tredegar Town Band, led by Ian Porthouse, who will also be a featured guest speaker at the event.
Guest speakers
Ian will be opening the convention with a session on ‘Bandroom Basics’, whilst other speakers include Iain Muirhead, former Principal Trumpet Scottish Opera, Scottish National Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, euphonium soloist Charley Brighton, Roger Middlebrook, conductor of Wantage Youth Band, composer Matthew Hall and 4BR's Editor, Iwan Fox.
Innovative development
The convention is designed to inspire conductors of all ages and abilities to think about innovative development from 'conducting techniques' and 'composers in residence' to soloists and even use of the banding media..
Delegates will be encouraged to participate and engage in all activities.
The convention will close on the Sunday with a concert by Tredegar 10-piece ensemble, followed by a farewell luncheon.
