Evesham set for US Open in 2013

Worcestershire band set to raise £40,000 to head to US Open in 2013.

Avonbank (Evesham) Band, from Worcestershire has received a formal invitation to take part in the 2013 US Open contest.

Honoured

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The band is particularly honoured and we will be raising the funds towards the estimated cost of £40,000 to take part in the prestigious event."

The visit to Chicago will coincide with the band’s 65th anniversary. The band was last in the United States in 2008 when members celebrated its 60th anniversary with a trip to the Evesham Township in the State of New Jersey.

Successful period

The invitation arrived at the end of what has been the band’s most successful period in recent history, culminating in promotion to the Second Section.

A number of fundraising events are already in hand to help finance the trip to America and full details will be released in the press and on the band’s website over the coming months.
