Kibworth welcome for Her Majesty

Kibworth Band provide the music for Her Majesty.

Kibworth

The Kibworth Band was recently honoured to be invited to take part in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s visit to Leicester Cathedral.

This was the first stage of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Tour and she was accompanied by both HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Duchess of Cambridge.

The Kibworth Band were given the enjoyable task of entertaining the large crowd as they waited for her arrival.

With some traditional music and a few foot taping numbers it provided a perfect opportunity for the crowd to practice some flag waving.

As the Royal party arrived and Her Majesty alighted from her car the band struck up with the march 'BB&CF', a refrain which was later taken up by the Dohl Drummers.

Short service

After a short service reflecting the multicultural nature and harmony of Leicester, the Queen left the Cathedral where she and The Duchess of Cambridge were presented with a posy by local schoolchildren.

Honour

A spokesman for the Band said: "The Kibworth Band have long been associated with the Cathedral where they take part in the Lord Mayor’s Carol Service and it was a great honour to be invited to be part of this very special occasion."
