The Brass Band Association of New Zealand (BBANZ) has announced further details of their forthcoing National Championships, which will be held in Timaru between the 4th & 8th July.
New venue
The event is being held in Timaru as the original venue in Christchurch continues to recover from the aftereffects of its devastating earthquake.
Test piece
The test piece for the contest will be announced on 5th March, whilst the closing date for entries is 4th May.

New events
BBANZ has also announced the trial of two new events for 2012: Amateur 'all other instruments' and an Open Slow Melody contest.
Amateur ‘all other instruments’ is open to players of any brass instrument other than Bb cornet, which already has its own division.
The Open Slow Melody event is open to players podum placed players in a similar event in any one of the seven District Contests.
The winner of the Open Slow Melody event will be invited to play in the 2012 Invitation Slow Melody.
