The National Assembly of Wales in Cardiff will provide the spectacular backdrop later today for the launch of Welsh banding’s new national representative body: Brass Band Forum Wales — Fforwm Bandiau Pres Cymru.
Dynamic future
Set up with a democratic remit to secure a dynamic future for brass bands and brass band music in Wales, close to 100 invited guests will meet to welcome the official launch of the new body, which will be headed by its new Chairman Iestyn Davies.
With individual representatives from all parts of the Principality, the Forum has already created a sense of excitement in Welsh banding with its proactive partnerships with contest promoters and the three Welsh banding associations.
Musical backdrop
National Assembly AM’s, will mingle with players, conductors and contest organisers, as well as members of the new organisation, whilst the event has already been featured on BBC radio.
The musical backdrop is being provided by the current Welsh Champion Band Cory with further entertainment being provided by a ‘Young Peoples’ Band made up of players from across the Principality.

Presiding Officer
The Presiding Officer of the Assembly, Rosemary Butler will be the chief guest for the event.
