New players and composer for Rogerstone

The Rogerstone Band has added to the ranks with players and a composer ahead of their Swansea appearance.

The Rogerstone Band has recruited new players ahead of their Area assault at the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea in a few weeks time.

New signings

Alex Rees, Thomas Dunne, Rhianwen Head, Katy Beckett, Claire Houndsome, Lyndsay Price, Becky James and Mike Pearce all join the ranks in time for their First Section appearance.

MD Jamie Jones told 4BR: "We are now working very hard towards the area competition, with an open rehearsal on the 9th March and the launch of our new website. We have also joined forces with a new composing talent too in 17 year old David Rees."

Composer

David has become Rogerstone’s first ever Composer-in-Residence and has already written a number of works for the band.

The MD added: "David is an extraordinary musician, after working with him on his first piece it seemed a natural progression to ask him to work alongside the band in this new role.

I look forward to providing David with a platform to excel with his compositions in what I hope will be an extremely exciting partnership."

Delighted

David, who also played flugel horn for the Ynyshir Band added: "I was delighted to accept this position. Writing for any band is always a pleasure and I have enjoyed hearing my music being performed in different events. I look forward to working with Rogerstone."
