4BR has been informed that Les Webb has accepted the MD position at Marple Band after taking two concerts and rehearsals since December.

Settled in

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The player’s have been delighted to welcome Les, and he has settled in very quickly both musically and socially."

Les will continue as principal trombone with Fairey’s.

Comfort zone

Chairman Paul Beetham added: "Things are on the move again at Marple with good attendance at rehearsals preparing some great new concert music — with the odd famous test piece thrown in to stretch the comfort zone.

The band is looking forward to this year’s events, including no less than nine performances of ‘Brassed Off!’ in May."
