Results: 2012 BBLNI Solos & Quartets

There was a great turn out of players at the recent Brass Band League of Northern Ireland competition.

The Brass Band League of Northern Ireland held their annual solos and quartet competition on the weekend, which was well supported in both the junior and senior sections.

21 children took part in the ‘10 and under’ category, followed by 34 entries in the ‘12 and under’ section.

Clean sweep

Players from the 1st Old Boys Youth Band dominated both sections, with a clean sweep of the podium places in the ‘10 and under’ section.

All three had travelled to Armagh the previous week to be encouraged and inspired by conductor Michael Fowles and the players of Foden’s.

The trombone section featured in the ’12 and under’ category, whilst in the Youth Band Section, 1st Old Boys Youth Band took the honours from Third Carrickfergus.

Fantastic Zelda

The ’15 and under’ category also saw 1st Old Boys take three of the four podium places in a class of 40 entries.

Sam Brodison from Ballyduff Silver gave a fantastic performance of ‘Zelda’ to take the ’17 and under’ title, whilst the ‘under 17’ ensemble title was by 1st Old Boys Youth Band with Murley in second and third.
