Euphonium soloist Charley Brighton will premiere four new works for the instrument by the end of this Spring.
Recital
His 45th recital, and 11th so far this year at St. Mary’s Slough, Berkshire, will see the first performance of ‘In Memoriam’ by Australian composer Yvonne Anthony.
Taken from the second movement of her ‘Orion Sonata’ for Trombone, this version has been especially arranged for Charley and accompanist Malcolm Stowell, in memory of her late partner, trombonist Ron Patrick.
In March Charley will also premiere another ‘Journey’ — composed for him by trumpeter Esther Hopkins. A slow piece in the baroque style exploring the higher register of the instrument.

New duet
Not to be left out, Charley’s wife Sue will join him on baritone for a new duet composed by Salvation Army writer Terry Treherne.
'Reflections’ is based on the hymn tune ‘Fewster’ composed by Ernest Fewster with words by Catherine Baird.
Finally, composer Barrie Hingley has written ‘Fantasia’ for Charley to perform with the BBC Elstree Concert Band in London. Barrie is now retired and a past musical director of the RAF Central Band.
