Wychavon alive and kicking!

The popular Wychavon Festival is alive and kicking for 2012.

The organisers of the Wychavon Festival of Brass have told 4BR that despite the austere financial climate the popular contest is very much alive and kicking — and will take place once again on 16th September.

Exaggerated

Festival Secretary Clive Allen told 4BR: "As Oscar Wilde once said, rumours of our death have been greatly exaggerated!"

Clive has been working tirelessly over the last few months, lobbying town councillors and officials to sustain levels of funding to enable the event to go ahead once more.

Nomadic

2012 will see the nomadic contest centred in the pleasant Worcestershire spa town of Droitwich, one member of the Three Towns Partnership alliance which supports the Wychavon Festival of Brass.

The competition is open to all contesting bands and, as usual, five sections will operate in two venues in Droitwich. The Norbury Theatre and Droitwich High host the contest which, this year, lasts a single day: Sunday September 16th.

Contest forms

Contest entry forms will soon be available from Secretary Clive Allen and interested bands are urged to contact him for information from January 31st onwards.

Remember –there are only TEN bands allowed per section so be quick!

Bonus

As a bonus this year, competing bands who bring family and friends with them can pre-register for supporters’ day tickets at half price!!

Clive also added however that the contest does need extra manpower help. So if you feel that you can help in any way, large or small, please get in touch soon.
