Composer Paul McGhee has revealed further details about his innovative new work which has been written to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Derwent Brass organisation.

He told 4BR that his, 'Episodes, Occurrences and Interludes' is divided into six self-contained pieces which run in groups of two, with such intriguing titles as; ‘Bringing Down Etwall, Plaster First!!’, ‘A Kerb-side Drop Off!!’, ‘Abraham's Silent White Knuckle Night Cable Ride!!!’, ‘New Doors, Broken Drawers; Sleep Tight Myfanwy..............’, ‘Torquay at Midnight.......... The Horror!!’ and, ‘Dionysus Throws a Bacchanalia, B.Y.O.B!!!!’
Derwent stories
Paul added: "All of the titles of the pieces have stories which relate to the history of the band. These were given by players both past and present to help create a work that will be a truly personal experience for the organisation."
The piece will be performed throughout the year by Derwent Brass at various concerts and competitions and will receive its premiere on the 25th February at the Landau Forte Theatre, in Deby, where Paul will be on hand to give further details about the work and what those amazing titles all mean!

Signing
Meanwhile, the band has announced the signing of Conor Harron on horn.
Conor, who has played with Jayess 87 and Hade Edge, told 4BR: "I’m very pleased tojoin Derwent Brass; this is a fantastic band with a great bunch of friendly people."
