The 2012 Welsh contesting season will kick off in February with the Welsh Open Entertainment Championship, held at the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl on February 18th.

The event has attracted national television coverage in the past few years and has become an increasingly popular entertainment contest with the banding community in the principality.
This year 11 bands will take to the stage to try and impress adjudicator John Berryman, and 4BR will be there is add its fourth penneth worth with live coverage of the event.

The line up is headed by reigning champions Tredegar, with Scottish Open champion Tongwynlais and a host of rivals from both North, East, South and West of Wales hoping to deny Ian Pothouse and his band making it a hat trick of wins.

The contest commences at 12.00noon, with 2 draws for order of play at 11.00am and 2.00pm and a comfort break at the halfway point.
