The Tullis Russell Mills Band has announced the launch of a second contesting band.
Intermediate Band
The Tullis Russell Intermediate Band was originally formed in April 2009 as an adult learning band, and was to be used as a stepping stone for players in their youth band to make the natural progression from the youth to senior bands.
Now, thanks to the exceptional progress made by the players, both young and old in the last 14 months, the band will make its full time return to contesting.
Now ready
During 2010 they were given a taste by taking part in the Fife Festival of Brass Contest and the event gave the players such a huge confidence boost that they are now ready to take the full contesting plunge!
The band will make its debut at the Scottish Championships in March competing in the Fourth Section, and will follow it up by competing in the Fife Festival of Brass Contest and Fife Charities Band Associations October Contest.

Satisfying
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "It’s very satisfying to see the band getting the opportunity to play at a major contest so early in their brass band careers, especially as many of the adults had never blown a brass instrument a few months ago."
They added: "We are very proud to be announcing this very significant news as it’s the culmination of many months of hard work and dedication by a team within the Tullis Russell Mills senior band."
