Thomas takes Fishburn helm

Huw Thomas has been appointed as the new MD at the Fishburn Band.

The Fishburn Band has announced that Huw Thomas has been appointed as their full time Musical Director.

Ability

A spokesperson told 4BR: "In his short time with us he has already demonstrated his ability to prepare for concerts and contests, working to very tight schedules and with a level of enthusiasm second to none."

They added: "His knowledge and research of music in all its forms is reflected in his ability to prepare programmes and test pieces and has already allowed the band to showcase some very original music."

Composer in Residence

In addition, the band has also announced the appointment of Dave Collins as Composer in Residence. Dave joined the band in late 2010 and is studying Music at Durham University. The band premiered one of his arrangements at last year’s Land O ’Burns contest.

The spokesperson added: "Dave’s output is prolific with both new compositions and well thought out arrangements. We look forward to our continued partnership."
